Mizuno has a new lineup of women's golf products, including woods, hybrids, bags and gloves, and highlighted by the Tava set.
With Tava, Mizuno tries to address a problem that many recreational women golfers encounter: difficulty differentiating between their yardages with adjacent clubs in their set. For example, a 3 and 4 iron might go about the same distance; a 6 and 7 might go about the same distance.
With its Tava set, Mizuno has expanded the difference in lofts between clubs to ensure a consistent 5-degree gap from club to club in the irons, and 4 degrees in the woods. This distinguishable difference in loft should help women golfers, Mizuno believes, with club selection and distance control.
The Tava set also features deep, undercut cavity designs on its irons, and a blended set approach. The wide, dual-cambered sole and deep cavitybacks on the irons are designed to create a deep center of gravity and great forgiveness, while aiding in getting the ball airborne.
The Tava lineup is a complete set: a 400cc titanium driver; stainless steel 3 and 5 fairway woods; 7 and 9 utility iron-woods; and six pocket cavity irons.
Graphite shafts are standard in the Mizuno Tava set, as are Golf Pride Lady Dual Durometer grips. The MSRP of the 6-SW Tava irons is $488, and for the woods (driver, 3, 5, and utility 7) $632. The utility 7 and 9 woods can also be purchased separately.
