The latest irons from Hippo Golf Company USA complement the driver and woods the company recently announced, while extending the ITX2 line of clubs. The Hippo ITX2 Carbon Irons become available on Feb. 1, 2005.

"Our innovative design team, under the direction of Ian Woosnam, has done it again," said David Dixon, CEO of Hippo Golf Company, Inc. "These new irons are like nothing you've ever seen before. They're designed with the same integrated technology we've incorporated into our new line of ITX2 Drivers, Fairway Woods and Utility Clubs and they perform exceptionally well."

The Hippo ITX2 Carbon Irons are designed with a three-piece construction consisting of a 17-4 stainless steel face, an inner cavity of a carbon composite, and a 17-4 stainless steel back section. The inner cavity of the back section is cut as close as possible to the outer rim, allowing the carbon center section to fit snugly inside. The center section is virtually the same size as the face plate, and the face is welded to the back cavity with the carbon sitting inside.

Hippo says the result of this three-piece construction is a soft feeling iron that has a face with a 100-percent sweet spot. That makes for a iron that is incredibly forgiving on off-center hits, the company says. In fact, the company claims there is no loss of distance when miss hit.

The Hippo ITX2 Carbon Irons also incorporate a wide sole design, which places as much weight below the ball as possible. The low center of gravity creates a high launch angle to help with trajectory and distance.

The Hippo ITX2 Carbon Irons come standard with W928 High Modulus graphite shafts that are lightweight, low torque, and designed specifically for the ITX2 heads. The new irons also feature a Hippo Ultra Soft wrap grip.

The ITX2 Carbon Irons are available in 3-PW in right-handed models with firm and regular flex shafts. MSRP for the set of 3-PW irons is $349 with graphite shafts and $299 with steel shafts.
