Hippo Golf is bringing a new line of composite woods to the market. The 460cc ITX2 Driver and ITX2 Fairway Woods will be ready for golfers to purchase in early February.
The "ITX" part of the clubs' names stands for "Integrated Technology." Hippo combines a carbon graphite crown with a forged titanium face and sole in the driver, and a maraging steel face and sole in the fairway woods.
"Our new ITX2 Driver and Fairway Woods are designed for optimum performance as demanded by Hippo staff player, Ian Woosnam," said David Dixon, CEO of Hippo Golf Company, Inc. "And we've been able to keep them affordably priced, which makes these clubs an exceptional value for golfers of all levels."
The composite crown isn't the only nifty feature of the ITX2 driver. It also incorporates "expansion carbon rails" underneath the crown. These rails, the company says, channel energy from impact back into the clubface.
The shaft used in the ITX2 woods is a W928 High Modulus graphite shaft that is lightweight, low torque, and is designed specifically for the ITX2 heads.
ITX2 Drivers are available in firm and regular flex shafts in right-handed 9- and 10-degree lofts; and in a left-handed 10-degree loft. The ITX2 Fairway Woods (3, 5, 7) are available in firm and regular shafts in right-handed models only. The ITX2 Drivers and Fairway Woods come standard with a Hippo Ultra Soft wrap grip.
The ITX2 woods are USGA conforming.
MSRP is $199 for the driver and $99 each for the fairway woods.
