Adams Idea a3OS Hybrid Irons
Replacing the Idea a2OS set, the Idea a3OS Hybrid Irons set is comprised of eight clubs that match hybrids with cavity-back short irons to target the maximum game-improvement segment of the club market.
The a3OS set provides greater MOI than the a2OS, with a higher launch, higher trajectory and more carry. Three versions of the set are available, one for men, one for seniors, and one for women. The men's set includes 3-8 hybrids, plus cavityback 9-iron and PW. The senior and women's sets run from 4 through sand wedge.
In the men's set, the 3, 4 and 5 are what Adams calls "Boxer" hybrids (fairway wood-like hybrids); the 6, 7 and 8 are "Trans-hybrids" (iron-like hybrids with very wide soles); and the 9 and PW are cavityback irons.
The standard graphite shaft for the men's set is ProLaunch Platinum 80-gram, and the standard steel shaft is the True Temper Performance Lite 105-gram. Other shafts and flexes are used in the senior and women's sets, but graphite only.
The Adams Idea a3OS Hybrid Irons begin shipping Oct. 1, 2007, with an MSRP of $799.99 with graphite shafts and $699.99 with steel shafts.
Adams will also be offering this set as part of larger, complete 13-club sets (with driver, woods, putter and cart bag) for seniors and women, under the name Idea a3OS Integrated Sets. Those will be available beginning Nov. 1, 2007.

Hippo Hex2
Hippo Golf classifies its square Hex2 driver as a major success, so the company is expanding the Hex2 line with fairway woods and hybrids. And yes, they, too, will take a hexagonal design approach to the clubhead. There will even be a Hex2 putter with a hexagonal head.
The fairway woods and hybrids will have the hex-shaped head, extra backweighting and high moment of inertia in common with the Hex2 driver.
The Hex2 fairway woods come in lofts of 17 and 21 degrees. They feature a shallow face, and a maraging stainless steel body with ultralight carbon rails on top.
The Hex2 hybrids come in lofts of 17, 20 and 23 degrees and also are constructed with a maraging stainless steel body and carbon top rails.
The new Hippo Hex2 clubs, including the putter, are available as of mid-September. The MSRP for the woods and hybrids is $119 per club; for the putter, $99.
