Golfers looking for increased scoring opportunities from tight lies and challenging distances can look to Precept ECU Utility Woods in 2005. Intelligent golfers are ditching their long irons in favor of hybrid clubs that facilitate smarter, more flexible play with a nimble touch. The scientific advancements behind Precept’s ECU Utility Woods, serve to fulfill the hybrid promise like no clubs before it, offering golfers the ability to get the ball in the air on long approach shots, as well as hit recovery shots, fairway bunker shots, even greenside chips with precision.

The ECU Utility Woods are made of 17-4 stainless steel and feature a unique sole profile for excellent forgiveness and playability from a variety of lies. A tungsten insert in the trailing edge makes it easy to get the ball airborne from even the toughest lies, while a pressure-injected elastomer compound insert inside the clubhead reduces vibration for enhanced feel. To accommodate a wide range of shots, the ECU Utility Woods come in four models: 2 (18 degrees), 3 (21 degrees), 3/4 (25 degrees) and 5/6 (30 degrees).

"While more average players are trending away from long irons and towards hybrid clubs, some better players have been hesitant to make the change because they worry the hybrids sacrifice precision and feel," said Dan Murphy, Director of Marketing, Precept Golf. "With the new Precept ECU Utility Woods these golfers can have their cake and eat it too."

Each ECU Utility Wood features a graphite shaft designed specifically for the irons by Mitsubishi. All models come in an A (62 grams) or SR (65 grams) flex, while the 3/4 and 5/6 models come in an L (60 grams) flex as well. The ECU Utility woods feature a suggested retail price of $140 per club.

"The lowered center of gravity and hybrid design make the clubs more forgiving, but feel is not sacrificed as the elastomer compound provides enhanced feedback due to its vibration dampening characteristic," said Mike Moxie, Precept Golf Marketing.

The ECU Utility Woods will be available October 2004 at pro-shops and golf specialty stores nationwide.
