Wintonbury Hills Golf Course is that rare treat: a municipally owned golf course that was designed by Pete Dye. Wintonbury Hills is located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, just 15 minutes outside Hartford in the state's hill country.
The course offers views of nearby Tunxis Reservoir, and the golfer will see plenty of bunkers, too: 125 of them. The 6,600-yard, par-70 track combines traditional tree-lined holes with more open, links-feeling holes.
Wintonbury Hills Golf Course has been named the best course in Connecticut by Golfweek magazine.
Photo: The second hole at Wintonbury Hills is a par 4, 365 yards from the tips. It is named "Crossing," as the tee shot must carry wetlands and a series of bunkers down the left side.
