Ballyowen Golf Course is part of the Crystal Springs Golf & Spa Resort in Vernon, New Jersey. Roger Rulewich is the designer behind the course, which has received numerous accolades, including being named best public course in New Jersey by Golfweek.

Ballyowen opened in 1998 on 250 acres sitting atop a plateau. The course calls itself a "modified links-style," although, as can be seen in these photos, its beautifully manicured fairways and trees around some holes (there are virtually no trees actually on the course) speak to another style. Photographer Jay Flemma says, "They import sheep and hire bagpipers to sell the idea" that it's a links course. However, Flemma adds, Ballyowen is "impeccably manicured with great greens."
