Pete Brown becomes the first African-American to win an official PGA Tour event at the Waco Turner Open.

Mickey Wright wins 10 or more LPGA events for the fourth straight year, with 11, including her fourth U.S. Women's Open.

Arnold Palmer wins his fourth Masters. But he also misses the cut at the Bing Crosby Pro-Am after making a 9 on the par-3 17th at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

The British Open changes its playoff format, reducing playoffs from 36 holes to 18 holes.

Sam Snead wins the PGA Seniors Championship, the first of his six victories in the event.
