Bobby Jones gets his first major title by winning the U.S. Open in a playoff.

Bobby Jones skips the Walker Cup matches at St. Andrews because he would not have been able to get back to the U.S. quickly enough to take his finals at Harvard University.

Gene Sarazen defeats Walter Hagen in a 38-hole final for the PGA Championship.

In winning his third straight Florida West Coast Championship, Walter Hagen's 276 total includes a round of 62 - the lowest golf score recorded in a pro tournament to this point.

Winged Foot Golf Club opens in Mamaroneck, N.Y. The course - now designated the West Course - is designed by A.W. Tillinghast.
