Britain resumes its national championships following a suspension during World War I.

The USGA adds the Green Section, whose mission is to research and improve turfgrasses.

The USGA and R&A set a standardized size and weight for golf balls - 1.62 inches in diameter and 1.62 ounces.

The R&A is given sole responsibility for running the British Open.

Walter Hagen is the first American-born golfer to win the French Open.
