Definition: "Chunk" refers to a golf shot in which the golfer's club strikes the ground before striking the ball, digging into the turf and producing a huge divot. A ball that is "chunked" won't be traveling very far; often times, a "chunk shot" is one that occurs around the green, on pitches or chipping, with the ball barely moving. The feeling is of stubbing the club. The term is closely related to "fat" and may originate from the chunk of turf that often goes flying on chunk shots.
