Guide Review - "A Frame" Golf Bag
Checking in at a mere 0.8 pounds, the A Frame is a breeze to carry with its plush double strap.
Maybe we should say it's a snap to carry, since clubs are "snapped" into place, giving the A Frame its structure. Plastic clips along the two plastic frames' rims serve to hold the clubs in place. We had no problems with steel shafts, but we admit to being a little wary about clipping graphite shafts into the frame. The manufacturer says the A Frame is perfectly safe for graphite, however.
So why "only" a 3-star rating for the A Frame? Because it's limited in its uses. The A Frame is designed to make carrying a golf bag easier, and it does that. But that's all it can be used for - carrying.
Someone who owns a carry bag plans to, naturally, carry his clubs. But how often are you walking a golf course when you decide, at some point, to ride a few holes? Or hop in a cart when a friend catches up to you? Normal carry bags can be used in a golf cart. The A Frame can't.
It also can't be used with a push cart, and it offers your clubs no protection if the weather turns bad.
But what it does do - make carried clubs feel much lighter - it does well.
