Louisville Golf Niblick Persimmon 7-WoodLouisville Golf

The Bottom Line

Yes, it's persimmon. You'll get past that as soon as you hit it. Louisville Golf's Niblick 7-Wood provides solid distance, excellent control, a soaring trajectory and good recovery shots.

Pros

  • Solid distance, excellent control.
  • Club specs produce majestic trajectory.
  • "V" soleplate helps elevate ball from any lie.

Cons

  • Is heavier than a metal wood, a minus for some.
  • Persimmon may scare away some golfers.

Description

  • Persimmon head with metal soleplate, the head comes in mahogany, or black with a white face insert.
  • Thick metal forms the "V" soleplate to help get down into tight lies and get the ball airborne.
  • Up to 75-percent of clubhead weight is below the ball line, providing very low center of gravity.
  • Improved face height helps with better contact from rough.
  • 7-wood carries 24 degrees of loft, 58-degree lie angle, square face angle.
  • Length in graphite is 41.5 inches, in steel 40.5 inches.
  • Niblick series also features 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 11 woods; all are available in RH; 3, 5, 7 in LH.
  • Metal ring called the "density balancing energy sleeve" replaces traditional whipping around hosel.

Guide Review - Louisville Golf Niblick Persimmon 7-Wood

Yes, it's a real persimmon wood. But nobody who tried this 7-wood felt cheated on distance. All agreed it produced excellent control, and all particularly loved the soaring, majestic trajectory. That trajectory comes as a result of the fact that up to 75-percent of the clubhead weight sits below the ball line - providing a very low center of gravity. I particularly loved this fairway wood off the fairway, but it performed well from the rough and from tight lies, too. Which is what the "V" soleplate (lower in the middle) is designed to do. The 7-wood should be equivalent to a 3- or 4-iron (3-iron for me, and I'm fairly long). It's designed for all levels, but mid- and high-handicappers in particular might appreciate these clubs.
