Guide Review - Nickent Genex Trimax 460 Forged Titanium Driver

The reaction of every golfer who tried the Nickent Genex Trimax 460 during our testing was the same: "This is a nice driver."

The club is attractively designed, with an eye-pleasing head whose maximum legal size inspires confidence at setup. The driver's performance in distance and dispersion proved solid if not spectacular, and certainly drew no complaints from golfers.

Overall, this is an excellent driver that will surely appeal to golfers both for its performance and its MSRP of $289.

Our only complaint is that the standard shaft lengths are 46 inches for men and 45 for women. Nothing unusual about that these days. But the Trimax 460 has some great game-improvement features that will, unfortunately, be counterbalanced for some golfers by the long shaft length. Longer shafts are more difficult for all golfers to master, but especially so for recreational players.

Following the completion of our testing, I had the Trimax 460 in my bag during a round with a friend. I handed it to my friend on the first tee, and he burst out laughing.

"It's HUGE," he said. "I've always seen these in pro shops and they just make me laugh. They're just so big it's funny."

He teed up the ball, took a few practice swings, and let out a few more chuckles. Then he hit his drive. He hit about 12 more drives with the Trimax during the round, not laughing once more. His drives were soaring, centered and longer than he was used to seeing.

The Genex Trimax 460 won a convert to big-headed drivers.
