The Bottom Line

The King Cobra SS 427 Beta Ti driver from Cobra Golf will give you excellent distance if you put in the time to master its light weight and closed face. Best for high-handicappers.

Guide Review - King Cobra SS 427 Beta Ti Driver

This club has drawn mixed reviews. One reviewer called it the best driver of 2002; another said it was erratic in performance and tough to control. We fall somewhere in the middle. There's no question that this club will be of most help to high-handicappers who slice their drives. The closed face and lower back heel weight pad combine to help get the ball straight. But those without that problem will need to adjust in order to avoid hooking the ball or pushing it too far left. The club is very light in weight, too light for my tastes, although other testers liked that aspect. While directional control takes some work, distance was pretty consistent - and consistently good.
