The year 2004 was barely under way before it was already shaping up as a big year for Dunlop. The company launched the LoCo brand with one ball and one club, but LoCo has turned into a crazy success story for the company.

Now Dunlop, in recent years best-known for value equipment, is maintaining the low price tags while adding Tour-quality clubs in the LoCo Pro driver, which John Daly will play on the 2004 PGA Tour (he'll be playing an all-Dunlop lineup, in fact).

And Dunlop is extending the LoCo line for recreational players, too, with additions of fairway woods, a hybrid iron set and a new ball.

Here is a look at the new LoCo line from Dunlop:

LoCo Pro Driver
The LoCo Pro will be be played on the 2004 PGA Tour by Daly. It's designed to provide more distance than the original LoCo driver, while still offering the same forgiveness and playability. The LoCo Pro keeps the original LoCo’s distinct midnight blue and electric yellow colors.

The LoCo Pro features a 450cc forged Beta-Titanium head with an enlarged sweet spot. With its 100-percent titanium head, the LoCo Pro not only offers increased distance, but also enhanced resiliency, making the club more durable for extended play.

"The original LoCo driver was a hugely successful endeavor that no one could have predicted the magnitude of," said Rick Gray, Director of Product Development, Focus Golf Systems, Inc. "However, as great as the original LoCo was, there still was room for some improvements. That is why we concepted the LoCo Pro. The LoCo Pro is designed to answer the call we received for more distance. The challenge though, was adding distance without sacrificing the easy playability that the original LoCo became known for, and we have done that."

In addition to the clubhead technology, the LoCo Pro comes standard with a proprietary Harrison XL 100-percent graphite shaft. The new Harrison shaft produces greater swing speeds while affording golfers more power and shock absorption at impact.

The LoCo Pro is available with a 10-degree loft, in men’s right- and left- handed models beginning March 1. The LoCo Pro carries a suggested retail price of $149.95.

LoCo Fairway Woods
LoCo Fairway Woods carry the navy and yellow graphics that mark the LoCo line.

"The entire LoCo line has gotten great reviews from golfers everywhere so we realized that it was time to bring that Crazy Long attitude to our fairway woods," said Gray.

The LoCo Fairway Woods are available in 3, 5, 7 and 9 woods. All have oversized stainless-steel heads for a larger sweet and greater forgiveness. All come with the Harrison Striper graphite shaft and premium Winn grips.

The clubs debuted with an MSRP of $149.99 each.
