Stand bags are designed for walkers and come with legs that fold out from the bag, allowing the golf bag to remaining standing when set down.
The RollerTop is a handle on the rim of the bag that gives the golfer something to hold onto when removing the bag from his or her shoulders. The RollerTop handle rotates, making it very easy for the golfer to grab the handle, swing the bag off his shoulders, place it on the ground and open the stand all in one fluid motion.
Sun Mountain's RollerTops can be found on the company's Lightning and Lightning ES ("extra space") stand bags.
"Sun Mountain was founded with a mission to build the best golf bag," said Sun Mountain founder and owner Rick Reimers, "and that quest continues with the invention of the RollerTop. I started carrying a prototype of the Lightning last year ... You very quickly find yourself wondering how you did without it."
The handle doesn't just serve as an easy way to, well, handle the Lightning golf bag. It also provides a new point to connect the strap, which Sun Mountain discovered results in better balance and less irritation from the strap rubbing against the golfer's side.
The Lightning weights in at a mere 3.9 pounds and the Lightning ES at 4.9 pounds. Both bags feature the Sun Mountain Dual X-Strap, six-way divided top with full-length dividers, GSP (graphite shaft protection), and pockets ranging from full-length outerwear pockets to a velour-lined valuables pouch.
