What's the Best Score Ever?

By September 20, 2013

Follow me on:

Last week at the BMW Championship, Jim Furyk became the sixth golfer to shoot 59 on the PGA Tour. Fifty-nine is the best score yet recorded on the PGA Tour, and also on the LPGA Tour. Nobody has broken 60 yet on the European Tour, but there's been a 58 on the Japan Tour.

What about everywhere else? What's the best 18-hole score ever carded in golf, anywhere, by anyone?

Scores keep going lower. In fact, 57s and even 56s, in recent years, started happening with such regularity that we gave up trying to track them. But that's OK, because 56 isn't the answer to our question.

The answer is 55, and there are four known rounds of 55 in the annals of golf. Read about them in our FAQ: What's the lowest 18-hole score ever shot in golf?
