In his first PGA Tour start of the year, Woods won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines for a record seventh time. It is his eighth career win at Torrey Pines, too (including the 2008 U.S. Open), which is the most tour wins ever by a golfer on the same golf course.
And his seven wins at one event? This is the third tournament where Woods has accomplished that:
7 Wins in One Tournament
So it's probably not coincidental that Snead is also the only golfer ahead of Woods on one other list: career wins. This was win No. 75 for Woods, seven short of tying the record:
Most Career Wins on PGA Tour
Sam Snead - 82
Tiger Woods - 75
Jack Nicklaus - 73
Woods' Farmers Insurance Open lead was up to eight strokes at one point during the final round, which would have tied the tournament record for margin of victory. But Tiger struggled with his driving all day on Monday, hitting a few that were pretty wild. He stumbled on a few holes and wound up winning by four.
Now all the golf pundits who last week were wondering if Woods would ever win again can now switch into pro-Tiger mode, wondering whether Woods is back and is going to have a great season.
