That 2012 Ryder Cup was really something. But it's over. And now the world of pro golf gets back to the grind, back to the "regular" world of tournament golf.
The PGA Tour plays the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, and the European Tour plays the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The Timberlake tourney represents the start of the PGA Tour's Fall Series, which this year consists of four tournaments. And this is the last year the Fall Series exists. Next year, the PGA Tour will switch to its new schedule format - no more following the calendar year - and the 2014 season will begin in October 2013. So rather than bringing up the tail end of the 2013 season, the current Falls Series events (or others in their place on the calendar) will represent the beginning of the 2014 PGA Tour season.
The defending champ in Las Vegas is Kevin Na. None of the 2012 Ryder Cuppers are playing, but the Team USA captain, Davis Love III, is.
There are 2012 Ryder Cuppers playing in Scotland, however, at the Dunhill Links: Dustin Johnson, Paul Lawrie, Martin Kaymer and Peter Hanson. Others in the excellent field include Ernie Els, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen, Padraig Harrington, Paul Casey and Matteo Manassero. (Defending champ Rory McIlroy is not playing.)
