You already know what I think from the headline. In both cases, the trailing team was behind by four points (10 to 6) entering Sunday singles. In both cases, that trailing team wound up winning the Ryder Cup by earning 8.5 of the 12 available singles points.
The reason I rate Team Europe's accomplishment at the 2012 Ryder Cup higher is that Europe won on the road. The Americans' victory in 1999 happened in front of the home crowd, with the boisterous fans cheering them on.
But Europe was rallying on Sunday in front of hostile (sometimes very hostile) crowds. That, to me, gives 2012 Europe a slight edge of 1999 USA.
