Michael Phelps Stars in Next Season of 'The Haney Project'

Hank Haney can be pretty hard on the celebrities who appear with him on the Golf Channel series The Haney Project. But tough coaching and tough physical demands are nothing new to the person who'll be Haney's subject in the next season of the show: Michael Phelps.

Phelps is retiring from swimming after winning a record 22 Olympic medals and 18 Olympic golds. What does he want to do next? For one thing, golf.

"I have traveled the world through swimming, but really haven't had an opportunity to experience the world through my travels," Phelps says in a news release from the Golf Channel. "I want to play all the world's great golf courses, but I'd like to play them well."

So he's turning to Haney, and Phelps will do his learning in front of Golf Channel cameras.

Phelps' turn on The Haney Project represents Season 5 in the series' history. Production on the fifth season begins in September, and the series begins airing on Golf Channel in February 2013.
