Congratulations to Ladies European Tour veteran (and former LPGA member) Iben Tinning on her victory in the Dubai Ladies Masters.
What's so special about it? Tinning earlier announced her retirement at the end of the 2010 season - and the Dubai Ladies Masters is the end of Tinning's 2010 season. She won the very last tournament she played! That's how you do it.
Not even Annika Sorenstam managed that feat. Annika's last tour event was the Dubai Ladies Masters in 2008, and she finished tied for seventh.
Tinning, 36 years old and from Denmark, hasn't had quite as memorable a career as Annika (who has?), but it's been a good one: Six LET victories, four Solheim Cup appearances. It won't be a big surprise if Tinning gets a turn as European Solheim Cup captain some day.
She'll always have something on Annika, though, and something most golfers can only wish for: Tinning went out with a win.
Michelle Wie finished tied for sixth and Lexi Thompson tied for 22nd. Big Break Sandals Resorts winner Carling Coffing tied Thompson. View the final scores
