Ryder Cup Records: Donald Up, Mickelson Down

By , About.com GuideOctober 4, 2010

Follow me on:

After going 3-1-0 at the 2010 Ryder Cup, Luke Donald now has the best won-loss percentage in Ryder Cup history for Team Europe/GB&I. And Ian Poulter is second.

Those are a couple of the updates to our Ryder Cup Records pages necessary following the 2010 matches.

Donald's career record is now 8-2-1, a .773 winning percentage; and Poulter is 8-3-0, .727. Among all Europeans with a minimum of five matches played, those are the two best marks.

Alas, some players moved in the other direction. Jim Furyk now has the second-worst winning percentage (.370) among Americans with at least 15 matches played, and Phil Mickelson the third worst (.412).

Furyk and Mickelson now share the USA record for most fourball matches lost, and Mickelson now holds the American record for most overall matches lost (17).
