The fourballs will conclude Saturday morning. When play was halted on Friday, Team USA led in two, Team Europe in one, with one match all square:
- Lee Westwood/Martin Kaymer, Europe, lead Phil Mickelson/Dustin Johnson, USA, 1-up through 12 holes
- Stewart Cink/Matt Kuchar, USA, lead Rory McIlroy/Graeme McDowell, Europe, 2-up through 11 holes
- Steve Stricker/Tiger Woods, USA, are all square with Ian Poulter/Ross Fisher, Europe, through 10 holes
- Bubba Watson/Jeff Overton, USA, lead Luke Donald/Padraig Harrington, Europe, 1-up through 8 holes
The original schedule had four sessions of team play over the first two days, each session including four matches. So 16 matches, total, played four at a time.
The new schedule still includes 16 matches, but condensed into only three sessions. The first of three sessions is the fourball that started Friday and will conclude on Saturday. After the fourballs conclude, the second session takes place - six foursomes (alternate shot) matches. And once those foursomes conclude, the third session will begin - hopefully, on Saturday - and include two foursomes and four fourballs.
That third session will carry over into Sunday morning. If there are no more weather delays - a big if - then the Sunday singles matches might start on time, and the 2010 Ryder Cup might finish as originally scheduled late Sunday afternoon local time.
Also note that NBC, the network carrying weekend coverage in the US, has adjusted its coverage and will include ESPN on Saturday. Here are those new times:
- Saturday: ESPN, 2:30-8 a.m. (ET); NBC, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (ET)
- Sunday: NBC, 4 a.m. (ET) through conclusion
If play does wind up spilling over to Monday, then NBC will shift American broadcast coverage to USA Network, 2 a.m. (ET) through conclusion.
