As you can see, this caption really needs some sprucing up! I'll assume this photo was taken at the conclusion of the Torrance-Clark team's Day 2 fourball win over Andy North/Tom Kite. Because Torrance and Clark partnered one another twice on Day 1 and lost both matches.
But Team Europe won the 1985 Ryder Cup 16.5 to 11.5. It was Team USA's first loss in the Ryder Cup since 1957, and ushered in the modern era of Ryder Cup success by Team Europe.
