Elin Nordegren Speaks Out: "The word 'betrayal' isn't strong enough"

There have been lots of rumors about what is and isn't included in the Tiger Woods-Elin Nordegren divorce agreement. Such as a gag order preventing Elin from ever talking about it. Well, scratch that one.

The issue of People magazine that hit newsstands today includes a cover article on Nordegren - what Nordegren told the magazine would be her one and only interview on the subject of her marriage to and divorce from Tiger.

A summary of the article appears on People.com. In that summary, Elin is quoted thusly:

"I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children. ...

"I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself."

Nordegren told People that she was completely blindsided by Tiger's serial affairs. A Washington Post article quotes from the People story:

"I never suspected, not a one," she said. "For the last 3-and-a-half years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school. ...

"I felt stupid as more things were revealed -- how could I not have known anything? The word 'betrayal' isn't strong enough. I felt embarrassed for having been so deceived. I felt betrayed by many people around me. ..."

She also strenuously denies there was ever "any violence inside our outside our home."

According to early reports, Tiger's representatives who are with him at The Barclays were scrambling this morning after news of the interview with Elin broke. No doubt.

i dont understand with a beautiful woman at home, why he had to go out and cheat, with another woman. maybe there was no real true love to begin with. maybe he was just trying to make a point to the world like “see what i can do”. and she just fit the bill. now he must pay for his infidelity i hope it was worth it shame on you tiger

Who cares who Tiger sleeps with? Or about what he does on Saturdays when he is off. Or what his kids eat. Or what happened in November. That’s just not news to me, Tiger’s loss of game is. I just want golf to get back to being entertaining to watch, which the old Tiger all but guaranteed on a weekly basis. Without Tiger the game has been mostly boring to watch. No-namers taking some of the majors this year almost bored me to tears. Thank God Phil can still play given what he is going through off the course.

There doesn’t seem to be enough people considering the size of the news event that is taking place before us. Tiger Woods is not playing golf well at all for the first time in his glorious career. It’s happening right before our eyes and we’re still worried about his sex life? He looks like a weekend hack slicer. That’s news worth covering if you want to rip that guy apart.

Elin, you got duped by a pro duper. You’ll get over it. You’re hot and super, duper rich. Go away now please.

I am glad that Elin Nordegren did not allowed Tiger and his team to silence her per life, even thought it cost her millions from the divorce settlement! Elin is free at last from the despicable Tiger Woods who seems to have very serious issues! Elin Nordegren appears to be a woman true to herself and there is no money that can buy the dignity, self respect, courage and moral principles of a true woman!!! What Tiger Woods did to Elin Nordegren was criminal and coward! He showed no compassion, respect or caring for his wife or children! I believe that Elin has a right to tell her story to the world since she and the children are the only true innocent victims in this horrid ordeal! I commend Elin for her courage and determination to come public! She is truly an inspiration to all the decent women around the world! I wish Elin and her precious children a very happy and bright future!!!
