At least one Woods can still win. Today was a bad day for her Uncle Tiger (who opened the WGC Bridgestone Invitational with a 74, his highest score ever in that tournament), but a very good one for Cheyenne Woods and her Wake Forest teammate, Michelle Shin.

Woods and Shin teamed to win the Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship, a 3-day event in which 2-women teams played alternate shot in Round 1, better ball in Round 2, and combined scores in Round 3. The Woods/Shin team shot 72-62-139 for a 275 total, two strokes ahead of the University of Alabama team in second place. (Full scores here.)

Woods, a junior, made an eagle on the 15th hole of the final round while Shin birdied, propelling the Wake Forest team to the victory.

"The whole day I really wasn't making any putts," Woods said after the tournament, presented by the National Golf Coaches Association. "Going into No. 15 I had a great putt for eagle and fortunately I made it and that really gave us some momentum going down the stretch."

Woods' first win at the collegiate level happened in April at the Bryan National Collegiate.

As a sophomore during the Spring 2010 golf season, Woods had six Top 10s in 10 starts, including that victory, and set a school single-season scoring record with a 73.47 average. She finished her sophomore season ranked No. 24 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
