Do You Play By the Rules?

That's the question we're posing today. Choose your answer below.

Golf Digest did an undercover operation a couple years ago in which the magazine had rules officials surreptitiously follow and observe groups of golfers around a course, cataloging their rules violations. Perhaps the most interesting finding was that many golfers believed themselves to be following the rules, but they just didn't have a great familiarity with some of the rules. So although their intentions were good, they wound up breaking the rules often.

If you have questions about the rules, scenarios you'd like explained, rulings you'd like to see cited, post a message in our Golf Rules Forum.

The one thing that is difficult is playing by strict rules, have you playing partners not play that way, and then have them post their score like you’re playing under the same rules.

If playing in a tournament, most people I know try to play by strict rules. But, if not, and playing with family or friends, playing by strict rules doesn’t seem important.
