Big Break Sandals Resorts - Episode 3
By Seema Sadekar
What a great turnout, all members and friends that I love showed their support by attending and donating. Reebok, Titleist, Bonjoc, MGM Grand & Luxor Hotel and Casinos, Kahunaville at Treasure Island, MINX Golf, 9Group and Campopoly were amazing and helped us raise a lot of money for little animals to be saved. My gorgeous big sister and I have always wanted to expand and partner with a charity that we believe in, and having three animals of our own has completely changed our lives. We are better people because of them, and I encourage you to adopt or donate!
Episode 3 of Big Break Sandals Resorts started with a lavish breakfast, and I got to read the daily card from Paul the Butler. Aside from us breaking into groups of three, the card was rubbish and I still don't get it? What about the boat Golf Channel? My group was titled Team Goddess, and we were the cutest. Although we got zero points, we were awesome and supermodel-material :-) Even though Carling said she would do it on her own, I think she was lying - who wouldn't want to be part of our group?
The first shot was a crazy 40-yard bunker blooper with the ocean in your face, very deceiving - it looked much shorter when inside the trap. I wanted to get the three points and start strong by impressing Golf's Legend Man, Greg Norman. To me, going for the 3-pointer was the only way to go ... until I left it short. And then I was like, OK, probably should've tried to get a 1. Whatever! The rest of the teams didn't rise to the challenge either and we were all square after round one.
Round two was a long chip, sidehill and a bit downhill, too. Carling went long, and made me laugh when she said that this wasn't the time to "lay up on a chip shot" after Chris hit her shot way short! Lili, Chris and Stacey did manage to get on the board with 1 point and so did the other team. Team Goddess remained at 0. Whoops!
In the last challenge, Stacey stepped it up and put it in the 2-point circle, and took her team to victory. I was so honored that they wanted to pick me to save. Although there were comments made about me being an "obvious" choice, I smiled as I was sipping red wine at lunch with Greg Norman. It's all about luck, really, and I will never disrespect any of my competitors because anyone can step it up at anytime - all these girls have earned bows over the years from me.
Before I went on the show, I worked with my coach Vic Wilk on breaking the glass. Unfortunately - and fortunately - I didn't have to go there. Sadly, my Goddess teammate and beautiful friend Maiya lost to Ryann in the elimination challenge and went home.
It was fun seeing the the UCLA ladies duke it out, but someone had to go. I love Maiya, and coincidentally Maiya and Ryann are both part of Play Golf Designs, so we all get to see each other often. Maiya is a true lady and a talented woman, I am so honored to call her my friend. I wish her all the best as she continues her dream to compete on the highest level! According to her Facebook page, she is working on her short game - Go Maiya!
Having lunch with Greg Norman was one of the best experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life. He's such a great man and a legend. He shared a few of his amazing and motivating stories about past experiences in golf and his current business ventures. It's not everyday that an opportunity like this arises for a professional golfer. Too cool!
Finally I will leave you with this equation: Seema Sadekar + Greg Norman = BFF. I love you, see you next week!
