Has a new star emerged? Hee Kyung Seo dominated the Kia Classic. Playing on a sponsor exemption, Seo won by six shots. Seo's is an interesting story. A couple years ago, she wasn't doing much of anything on the Korean LPGA tour. Then Jiyai Shin invited Seo to spend some time with her at Shin's home club.
Whatever lessons Seo learned in those few days worked: She won her next three KLPGA starts, and has 11 KLPGA wins total since her time under Shin's tutelage. Her stylish look on the links earned her the nickname "supermodel of the fairways."
With her win at the Kia Classic, she has LPGA membership - if she wants it. Regardless of her decision about where to play, Seo is playing this week in the Kraft Nabisco Championship - and must now be considered among the favorites.
The poll below gives you a chance to vote on the KNC winner. Absent is the defending champion, Brittany Lincicome, who shot 78-74 and missed the cut at the Kia; also absent is a great darkhorse pick, Inbee Park - my pick to win. Park "won" in Japan two weeks ago ... until a penalty assessed post-round knocked her down to second. Then she finished second at the Kia Classic, posting the best score of the tournament (65) in the final round. Vote "other" if you like either Lincicome or Inbee Park for the win.
Michelle Wie? She's playing well and would have tied Park for runner-up at the Kia save for a 2-stroke penalty of her own in the final round.
Who is your pick to win?
