Bad Week for the Ishikawa Family

Not a good week of golf for the Ishikawa family of phenoms.

First, Ryo Ishikawa badly missed the cut at the PGA Tour's Transitions Championship. The Ryo's little sister finished last in a Japan LPGA tournament.

But let's cut the kid - the younger kid - a break. Yoko Ishikawa is only 13 years old, after all. The T-Point Ladies tournament was her first appearance in a JLPGA tournament, which she got into via sponsor exemption. Earlier in the week, Yoko said she agonized over whether to accept the invitation to play, knowing she wasn't ready to be competitive at that level.

But in the end, Yoko said, she decided the experience was worth the risk of performing poorly. And we hope she still has that attitude after finishing two round in 168 strokes.

Ryo, world-weary old golfer of 18 years old, opened the Transitions Championship with a round of 83, then followed with a 71 to finish 140th in the field. Perhaps Ryo was still recovering from whatever partying followed his high school graduation a week earlier.

Those poor Ishikawa kids ... if only they had more time!
