This Week: Waste Management Phoenix Open

New world No. 5 Ian Poulter goes for two in a row this week at the PGA Tour Waste Management Phoenix Open (formerly known as the FBR Open). Poulter (see the Ian Poulter Fashion Show) is coming off his first USPGA Tour win at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Last week's other winner - Cameron Beckman at the Mayakoba Classic - is also playing in Phoenix.

So is Phil Mickelson, back in action after a week off, plus Geoff Ogilvy, Martin Kaymer, Fred Couples, J.B. Holmes, Rickie Fowler, Camilo Villegas and Kenny Perry (full field). Perry is the defending champion.

There are usually fireworks at TPC Scottsdale. The Phoenix Open is a tournament where golfers sometimes go very low, and is known for loud, raucous crowds, particularly around the par-3 16th hole. It's the biggest party on tour. And also the site of the only par-4 ace in PGA Tour history.

Check out About.com Phoenix's fan guide, or take a look at our tourney profile for the list of past champions and more.
