Players Tweet Reactions to Tiger's Statement

By , About.com Guide   February 19, 2010

Follow me on:

How is Tiger Woods' statement/apology going down with fellow pros? Some early reaction is coming in via Twitter. Some of the first tweets from fellow pros are these:

Y.E. Yang: "heard everything went to a standstill when Tiger talked at Tucson - i think it was sincere and he should be left alone now"

John Daly: "THE BIGGEST 'MAJOR' TIGER IS GOING TO WIN NOW---IS GOING TO KEEP HIS FAMILY & I HOPE HE SUCCEEDS! I WISH HIM ALL THE BEST! JD"

Before that supportive tweet, Daly wrote this: "watchin the Tiger interview I'm thinkin he needs some of my new sponsor--www.getyourslixon.com"

Slix is a brand of underwear. Using the Woods situation to promote your new sponsor is ... gauche. But far, far worse than that is the image I now have in my head of Daly in his underwear ...

LPGA major winner Karen Stupples was one player who did not have anything good to say about Tiger's performance. Stupples tweeted:

  • "Ok enough already not even going to say when he will return but made sure to say how good he is"
  • "Such drivvel. Don't know if that's the right word or spelling"
  • "He did this to himself and his family its not the media who made him have sex with 12 other women while he was married!"

(1) David Wakeman says:

It’s time to leave Tiger and his family alone. I listened to his statement and then listened to all the media go off about whether he was sincere and how it was staged and every other angle you can think of. I think the media needs to back off.
