Woods' Break Now (Really) Under Way

By , About.com GuideJanuary 24, 2010

Follow me on:

Tiger Woods' "indefinite" break from golf is - finally - under way. Although Woods announced weeks ago he would take an indefinite leave to deal with his, uh, issues, fact is he wouldn't have played any of the tournaments to this point anyway.

But Woods would have played this week's tourney at Torrey Pines. The deadline to commit to the field at the Farmers Insurance Open was 5 p.m. on Friday, and Woods' entry failed to arrive. So for the first time since announcing his break from golf, Woods is skipping a tournament he would have otherwise played.

Why does anyone really care when he plays next. Its his life to live as he wants as long as he does not harm himself or anyone else. I think its time to put the whole thing to rest. Afterall there are plenty of outstanding golfers to entertain us with their skills and not with their personal lives.

Do you really need to ask why anyone cares when Tiger plays next?!? There is a huge golf following that ONLY watches golf when Tiger is playing. The number of people he brings to tournaments, and the viewers he brings to TV ratings are staggering. Without Tiger, golf sponserships and revenues fall dramatically. When Tiger returns to playing, golf will return to a sport worth mentioning.

without tiger golf will return to the same old boring, stodgy, white, uptight realm as before with phil at the lead. The only sport more boring to watch is bowling….wait another white nad uptight sport.
