Tiger Talks ... to Roger Federer

By , About.com GuideJanuary 15, 2010

Follow me on:

Tiger Woods hasn't been seen - at least, there have been no confirmed sightings of him - or heard since his car accident in late November, aside from a few notes posted on his Web site. Some of his golf buddies have said they tried to reach him, unsuccessfully. Some of his celebrity buddies have said the same - tried to call, number changed, couldn't get through.

But when Roger Federer calls, Tiger apparently picks up the phone. Federer told a French newspaper that he and Woods have spoken on the phone. Federer called Woods' troubles "instructive," saying:

"The tabloids are going crazy, sponsor contracts are falling apart. ... I've always been aware that the image you patiently construct for an entire career can be ruined in a minute. It scares you a bit, but that's the way things are."

Ah, but Roger, the key there is to patiently construct an image that reflects who you actually are, rather than one that is so at odds with the way you behave in your private life.

Federer said that Woods "needs calm," and predicted that Tiger will "soon ... become the wonderful golfer that we know again."

So Federer thinks the lesson to be learned from Tiger is ‘not to get caught’ while creating an intentionally misleading and deceptively false image of yourself lest the gravy train that rides upon this falty image comes to a screaching halt.

And I thought the Do-Do Birds were extinct. Roger should do himself a favor and not open his mouth because there appears to be a lot of vacant space between his ears that he would’nt want people to know about. Mind you, this would have been more useful to him a day or so ago…

honestly, i dont know what people will comprehend, and i think this news will go for huge money and commotion between the readers.

what roger tries to imply is that sometimes, a successful career can go down the drain in matter of minuites. i believe he was not trying to say, “oh, someone should learn a lesson of not getting caught so easily like tiger woods!”… i bet he had no clue of the inside stories behind what happened to his friend.

but more so, i believe it is hard not to just forgive him, and accept reality. if one day, i find out my friend is doing all this crap behind me, i dont think i would be able to forgive him, but at the same time, there is the soft corner, and the love that can never be eliminated!

roger commented completely on the basis of his proffesional career and didnt open his mouth when it came to tiger’s personal life. i have complete faith in roger! i think he is a gem of a guy, and no matter how many tabloids go against him, i will still believe he is what he was. unless he denies it himself.

i did so too for tiger woods, alas all hopes were broken. but roger is different i believe. and no, this is not in the basis of tiger being caught. it was something i have always believed in…

It appears that Tiger and his team have been enlisting respected persons such as Nicklaus, Hamon, Obama, Simmons and Federer to said positive things about him. This seems a very calculated strategy to help pave Tiger’s comeback. Sorry Tiger, we already know WHO and WHAT you are but… keep trying!

It is truly remarkable that one of the games great golfers had to be such a “puttz”. If and when he returns to the game he’d better be ready for boo’s and heckels cause they are sure coming.

Best thing he can do is “suck it up” and hit the links. Keep his mouth shut and let his clubs do all the talking.

Anyone up for a scratch game?

TIGER CHEERLEADER ! – Tiger age 34 has won 14 majors in the last 13 years. His buddy Roger Federer age 28 has won 15 majors in the last 6 1/2 years. That means that Roger won 15 majors in 1/2 the time it took Tiger to win 14 majors. Furthermore, Roger is THE ALL TIME MAJORS LEADER in his sport! That’s ON THE FIELD! now OFF THE FIELD ? Let’s just say that Roger is a BETTER FAMILY MAN and Tiger should now get tested for S.T.D. I know Tiger is American like that watch that says TIMEX, but Roger is Swiss like the watch HE WEARS and SPONSORS that says ROLEX ! So what my point you might ask ? Easy TIGER CHEERLEADERS ! – ON THE FIELD or OFF THE FIELD it’s Game, Set, & Match – ROGER FEDERER ! Only age 28 and THE ALL TIME MAJORS LEADER in his sport.
