Free Speech ... or Bad Etiquette?

By , About.com Guide   January 13, 2010

Follow me on:

That's the question posed in the Golf Forum by one reader, who tells a story of gamesmanship that led to an angry reaction. The two golf buddies had been ribbing each other all day, when one of them found himself standing over a putt worth five skins.

Our forum poster then said to his friend, "Its kind of bumpy there, and you've been leaving it short all day." The friend missed the putt, stormed off the green, and the remainder of the round was tense.

The forum poster writes that they haven't spoken in a couple weeks. Is the forum poster in the wrong? Or is the friend overreacting? Read the post, read the replies, and add your two cents.

That’s easy. The forum poster should have lost the hole and the 5 skins for breaking Rule 8-Advice.
