See More About:
Tiger Woods is the athlete of the decade for the period 2000-2009, according to Associated Press sports editors. The AP announced the results of the voting on Wednesday, and the vote wasn't close:

Tiger Woods, 56 votes
Lance Armstrong, 33 votes
Roger Federer, 25 votes
Michael Phelps, 13 votes
Tom Brady, 6 votes

More than half the ballots were returned after Woods' Nov. 27 car accident, according to the AP. But no amount of scandal could or should derail a vote based solely on athletic achievement.

Armstrong and Federer had tremendous decades of achievement, no doubt. But Woods is the deserving winner of the title "Athlete of the Decade." He won 64 times in the decade, which is more wins than all but three other golfers managed in their entire careers. Among those 64 wins were 12 majors - more than all but one other golfer managed in his entire career.

In the aftermath of the mysterious crash, the rumored and alleged affairs and related unpleasantness, Woods will forever after be the butt of jokes and insinuations, no matter what happens going forward. But he will also forever be the greatest player - by far - of his generation, and in the view of many the greatest of all-time.

In other Tiger news:

  • The Dubai firm that is building Tiger Woods' first golf course design says that course will be completed, despite Dubai's financial woes. The company had no comment on Woods' own, personal woes.

  • Gallup polling shows only 33 percent of people still hold a favorable view of Tiger Woods, compared to the 85 percent who did so in 2005, when Gallup last polled about Tiger's popularity.

  • Japanese golf legend Jumbo Ozaki gave phenom Ryo Ishikawa some advice: Be careful about women. And "if you have any problems, call Tiger."

I wish people would realise what a brilliant concept Tiger was trying to achieve. He had been working towards an entirely new approach to golf, constructing a course with holes in different cities, for either stroke play or skins, the player chooses which. Unfortunately he had only managed the first 12/ 13 holes before people could appreciate his approach.

I for one am glad that some one is seeing the light. Between these sleezy cheezy chicks who want thier 60 seconds of fame and the yellow journalism and feeding frenzy off some one else’s pain I am glad to see some thing refreshing.
Much as I do not agree with Tiger’s behaviour and I definitely do not,I think we have to recognize that others have been tin regard to infidelity. i.e. Presidnet Bill Clinton,Royal Prince Charly Boy,just to name a few.
People seem to get pleasure not only from putting down Tiger but inflicting pain on his wife by the glaring press!
Come on folks! Give someone a break!Just wait one of those sleezy cheezy dolls will write a book and it will be a best seller just because the public thrive on someone’s misery!

ATHLETES = Marathoners, tennis players, boxers, cyclists, basketball players, swimmers

NON ATHLETES = Bowlers, poker players, horse riders, car drivers, fishermen, and golfers.

Tiger Woods and John Daly are not athletes.

Little Mister Tigger should never have seen the award from Golf Digest, it should have been pulled & another athlete should have receive the award.Young people play golf, what kind of an impression is he making to them.He is not a man, or he would have bellied up to the bar & told exactly what he did.The little man is a public figure & respected by these young people, even 8yrs old & up..What did he tell these woman, that Elin was not affectionate & didn’t have sex with him. That is an old story told by both men & woman who cheat.I do hope he becomes a man if he want Elin back & I hope it works out for them, but what he did will be a bundle to swallow & trust him again.I do hope he goes into counselling, he needs help.
