That WD happened just a couple weeks ago. Since then, an MRI revealed no serious damage to the ankle - just a sprain with some tendinitis. Wie was fitted with a walking boot, which she has worn in the interim, and she'll be playing the tournament with the ankle taped, as it was during her breakthrough victory at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
So far this week in Dubai, during practice and during a Par-3 Challenge Match, the ankle has been OK. Also playing in Dubai this week are Christina Kim, Laura Davies, In-Kyung Kim, Julieta Granada, Sophie Gustafson, Maria Hjorth, Anna Nordqvist and Karen Stupples.
Wie's ankle isn't the only thing being tested this week - so is Wie's command of her statistics class at Stanford. It's finals week, and Wie is spending her evenings in Dubai studying.
