Lag Putting Drill for Distance Control

Tuesday September 22, 2009
The "Boss of the Moss," Loren Roberts once told instructor Neil Wilkins that he feels he can make a putt on any green if he hits it the right speed. Roberts told Wilkins that when he putts, all he thinks about is the speed he will roll the ball.

Now Wilkins, who teaches several PGA Tour pros, shares a practice drill that targets our ability to control speed - our ability to control distance.

Grab your putter, some golf balls, and a little bit of string and head to a practice putting green for this simple lag putting drill. Walk away with a better feel for distance control.
