A few items in the news today to point out:
  • Seve Ballesteros, recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, underwent a second brain operation today. The first operation, which removed part of the tumor, took place on Tuesday. Today, after swelling in his brain, Ballesteros underwent a "decompressive craniectomy" to relieve pressure. He is described as stable following the second surgery.

  • The LPGA Tour's season-ending ADT Championship - the tournament that first pioneered a "playoff" approach - may continue after the 2008 tournament. But if it does, it will have to be with a new sponsor, and it might be at the start of the season rather than the end. ADT has chosen not to renew its sponsorship, the latest LPGA sponsor to leave the tour.

  • Tiger Woods' AT&T National tournament on the PGA Tour will be played at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia in 2010 and 2011, leaving Congressional Country Club for those two years as Congressional prepares for the 2011 U.S. Open.
