Vijay Strikes Again

Sunday August 24, 2008
The 2008 season had been a fairly middling one, by Vijay Singh's standards, until three weeks ago when he won the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. But then he missed cuts at the PGA Championship and Wyndham Championship.

Today, though, Singh is on top of the FedEx Cup standings after a playoff victory (over Sergio Garcia and Kevin Sutherland) at The Barclays. Singh already held the tournament record of three victories; now he has four at The Barclays.

And, as mentioned, he now leads the FedEx Cup points standings:

1. Vijay Singh, 109,500
2. Sergio Garcia, 104,375
3. Kevin Sutherland, 101,950
4. Phil Mickelson, 101,856
5. Justin Leonard, 101,830
Full List

But even after Vijay's win Sunday, Tiger Woods - with only six tournaments in 2008 - still leads the money list.

The victory was the 33rd of Singh's PGA Tour career, and his 21st since turning 40. See:
