Surgery Ends Luke Donald's Year
Tuesday August 12, 2008
We've been talking in our golf blog the past couple posts about the Ryder Cup, after the American side's first eight players were announced. The European side's automatic qualifiers won't be announced for several more weeks. But now we know one regular who won't be there: Luke Donald.
Donald's 2008 season is over following wrist surgery to repair an injured tendon. The injury occurred during the final round of the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, and Donald missed the British Open and PGA Championship.
Rest and rehabilitation failed to heal the injury, so Donald opted for surgery, which took place on Monday. His recovery time is expected to be about three months. Donald has a 5-1-1 record in the past two Ryder Cups.
