Journeymen Lead U.S. Open after Round 1

Thursday June 12, 2008
A pair of journeymen - Justin Hicks and Kevin Streelman - are the first-round leaders at the U.S. Open following Thursday's play, which concluded after 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Streelman is in his first year as a card-carrying PGA Tour member, and has nine cuts made in 16 starts in 2008. He has one Top 25 finish this year, but one of his better showings was at the Buick Invitational played at ... Torrey Pines, site of the Open.

Hicks is the real unknown. He's bounced between the mini-tours and the Nationwide Tour for several years, with 2007 being a high point for both Nationwide Tour events played (15) and money list ranking (80th).
