"Big Break: Kaanapali" Episode 8 Recap
This episode begins with six players remaining: Lori Atsedes, Sophie Sandolo, Samantha Head, Kim Welch, Christina Lecuyer and Susan Choi. The Immunity Challenge requires pairing the players off for three one-on-one battles. As the seasonlong points leader, Lori gets to choose her opponent. She picks Kim. Sophie is No. 2 in points, and she picks Christina. That leaves Sam vs. Susan as the third matchup.
The three-part Immunity Challenge goes like this: First, the players hit to a grid on the fairway. Then they'll hit to a green from 160 yards out. Then they'll put from 18 feet. At each location, they have four chances to get their ball to the target (in the grid, on the green, in the cup). Their score is the number of attempts it takes to pull off the shot (hit the target on the second attempt, get two points). If they fail in four chances, their score is five.
Lori and Kim both hit the grid on their first attempt, but Kim struggles hitting the green. On the putt, Kim has to make it within two or Lori won't even have to putt. And she does. Lori wins immunity.
Sophie takes a lead over Christina by the time they reach the green, and Sophie winds up not having to putt either. She is safe.
Sam and Susan reach the green with Susan leading by one. Then Susan makes the putt on her second attempt. Sam is unable to match, and Susan wins immunity.
Kim, Christina and Sam move on to the Elimination Challenge. They'll play three holes of golf, using a Stableford-like scoring system: Eagles worth five points, birdies three, pars one; bogeys minus-1, double-bogeys or worse minus-3. If a player has the outright lead after two holes, she is safe.
All three players par the first hole. On the second hole, a par-5, Kim hits a huge drive, but decides to play safe and lay up, rather than go for the green, after watching Christina top a shot out of the rough. Kim winds up wedging it close, but can't convert the birdie putt to win safety after two holes. All players par and are even.
On the third hole, Kim finally makes a putt and wins the hole with a birdie. Sam and Christina both par, leaving them tied. So they have to go to a playoff.
They tie again on the first playoff hole. On the second playoff hole, both hit good drives. Both hit the green. Sam leaves her putt way short from about 20 feet. Then, from around 18 feet, Christina sinks her putt, and sinks Sam.
Samantha Head is eliminated.

lori, is flat out a witch. the penalty of christy flattening her lie down , was rediculous on golf channel’s part. this isnt a usga event and you werent playing the ball down.everyone got to place the ball down like a tee shot. you guys made a poor poor decison. this is my favorite show , but the way you guys did this show , i hope christy comes back and puts it to the witch. im not sure why u guys made the decision u did , but it looked bad. also showing the witch lori so much , made these episodes not nearly as good. no one wants to watch her run and dominate the show…she has absolutely no class , and i hope lori goes home soon.
