Woods Has Knee Surgery, Will Miss 4-6 Weeks
Tuesday April 15, 2008
Tiger Woods underwent knee surgery on Tuesday to repair damaged cartilage in his left knee, he announced on TigerWoods.com. He is expected to be out 4-6 weeks. That timeframe makes him likely to miss The Players Championship, but be back in time for the U.S. Open.
Woods had surgery on the same knee twice before; in 2002, also to repair cartilage damage and to remove a benign cyst; and in 1994 to remove a benign tumor.

Does anyone else think the timing of this is a little strange? If he’s had the pain since last summer, why not get the knee fixed during the off-season? If he had won the Masters, would he have had the surgery? Legitimate questions, I think. Just seems a tad strange to me.
