Lorena Ochoa Wins Going Away at Kraft Nabisco Championship

Sunday April 6, 2008
The first LPGA major of 2008 is now the second LPGA major championship victory for Lorena Ochoa. Ochoa won the Kraft Nabisco Championship by five strokes, posting a 67 on Sunday and pulling away over the course of the day.

Ochoa certainly seems to have attained the level of play that Annika Sorenstam was at from 2001 to 2005, when she dominated the LPGA as far-and-away the best player. Ochoa won eight tournaments in 2007, including her first major championship. Now she's added major No. 2, and has three wins in four starts in 2008. Not just any kind of wins, but dominating ones:

  • HSBC Women's Champions: Won by 11
  • Safeway International: Won by 7
  • Kraft Nabisco Championship: Won by 5

The victory is also win No. 20 in Ochoa's career, tying her with Laura Davies on the LPGA career wins list.
