Callaway Golf recently announced its new product offerings planned in 2008 - more than 30 of them across the Callaway, Odyssey and Top-Flite brands.

New Odyssey putters will include the White Hot Tour line, with a firmer feel to the White Hot Tour insert; and the White Hot XG Sabertooth that Callaway says will have the "most radical headshape in golf" - one complete with "fangs."

From Top-Flite will come the Gamer, a 3-piece performance ball for under $20; the Freak, a distance ball; and the next-generation of the XL 3000 called the XL 5000. Top-Flite will also get back into the club business with box sets for recreational golfers.

And under the Callaway brand? There'll be a new junior set. Women's clubs including the Gems, a complete set for beginning or high-handicap females; and Big Bertha irons, fairway woods and drivers geared for women.

Callaway golf balls will include the "i" and "ix," balls with tungsten-infused outer cores to increase their perimeter weighting, boosting their MOI and therefore, Callaway says, reducing spin off the driver.

There'll be new offerings within each of Callaway's prominent club platforms, too:

  • Fusion: The FT-i Tour Low CG Driver will have the highest MOI of any Callaway driver and retail for $529. FT-i Squareway Woods square-up fairway metals and boast MOI ratings approaching those of some drivers. There are also FT i-brid Irons, and FT fairway woods, hybrids and irons.

  • X Series: The X Fairway woods are re-engineered with lower leading edges, and the Hyper X and Hyper X Tour drivers are introduced. X-Forged Wedges by Roger Cleveland aim at lower-handicappers.

  • Big Bertha: The 2008 Big Bertha irons will have more offset, a larger effective hitting area and a costant sole-width in the mid- and short irons. An 8-club set will retail for $599 with iron shafts or $799 with graphite shafts.

It's a lot to take in, and you can explore in more detail by checking out the Callaway news release here.
