Another Milestone for Lorena Ochoa

Sunday October 7, 2007
Lorena Ochoa didn't win the LPGA Tour's Longs Drugs Challenge on Sunday. Suzann Pettersen did, by beating Ochoa in a playoff.

But Ochoa won enough money with her runner-up finish to reach a milestone: She is the first golfer in LPGA Tour history to top $3 million in earnings in a single season. The previous highest winnings belonged to Annika Sorenstam, who won more than $2.8 million in 2002.

By contrast, the first player to earn $3 million or more in one PGA Tour season was Tiger Woods in 1999, and the PGA Tour record is $10.9 million by Vijay Singh in 2004.
