Limited-Edition Callaway Equipment Benefits Ovarian Cancer Research
Earlier this year, Callaway Golf, through its Callaway Golf Foundation, announced a plan to raise awareness of and funds for fighting ovarian cancer:
The Callaway Golf Foundation has donated $1 million to the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Programs to create the Callaway Golf Foundation Women's Cancer Initiative. This donation will fast-track breakthrough treatments and tests at leading cancer institutions nationwide to beat the disease.
Actress Eva Longoria signed on as "ambassador" for the program, filming a series of public service announcements.
Now Callaway has announced another fund-raising effort for the Women's Cancer Initiative, this one giving golfers a chance to own limited-edition and specially marked Callaway golf clubs and equipment:
The Callaway Golf Company has launched a new line of products to benefit ovarian cancer research, just in time for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September. Aimed at raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer, the second leading and most deadly gynecologic cancer, Callaway Golf has designed a limited-edition line of teal FT-i drivers, golf balls, towels and hats that will be available beginning September 1, 2007 at sporting goods stores nationwide.
Only 1,000 of the teal FT-i drivers (pictured above) will be produced. Fifteen-percent of the net from these products, up to $200,000, will be donated by Callaway. The 1,000 drivers, each one individually numbered, will retail for $875 each. Specially marked Callaway golf balls with teal markings will sell for $35 per dozen; hats, $15; and towels, $25.
